RP celebrates its first graduation after merging 8 colleges

The Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) concluded, yesterday 28th June 2018, the 1st graduation ceremony of its 1882 graduates from 8 colleges. The ceremony took place at IPRC Kigali Stadium. This ceremony was officially attended by the Minister of Education, Dr. Eugene Mutimura, who is also the Guest of honour. During the graduation ceremony, both Advanced Diploma and Diploma certificates were awarded to 1882 students from IPRC Gishari, IPRC Huye, IPRC Karongi, IPRC Kigali, IPRC Kitabi, IPRC Musanze, IPRC Ngoma and IPRC Tumba.

Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC) Gishari is among eight colleges to award Advanced Diploma certificates to its 128 graduates in department of Civil Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. During the ceremony, individual students were also recognized for their outstanding overall academic performance from each college. It is in this regard that Gaston Tuyubahe from Civil Engineering was awarded a laptop as best performer in IPRC Gishari.

A number of distinguished guests, family and friends attended the ceremony to share with graduates the joy on such important occasion in the success of our graduates. The Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic, in his opening remarks, wished all our graduates success in their future careers studies, and proudly congratulate them on their academic achievements and urged them to be innovative.

 

I am gratified to hear some good stories about some of the past graduates of IPRCS, whereby more than 75% of employers are satisfied with the performance of graduates, but the journey is still long; our aspirations are high. Rwanda must feature prominently in education quality indices on this continent and globally. We want RP to produce not only the best technicians, but also the best innovators and entrepreneurs.” he noted.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Eugene Mutimura, reminded the graduates to think big so as to provide its contribution in the development of our country. He also highlighted a number of opportunities in the country to be benefited by graduates such as industries being created together with existing ones. “His Excellence the President of the Republic of Rwanda is committed to make Rwanda industrial transformation and ensure that Rwanda becomes a hub for the region and global business in various priorities and we believe that as graduates, as leadership of Rwanda Polytechnic, we are going to support his Excellence the President of the Republic to contribute towards this noble needs. ” he said.

 

After the fruitful remarks by the guest of honour, the Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic who is also Mr. Olivier Rwamukwaya dissolved the congregation.
